Managed Hosting and Contract Options

Below is a table of our rates for site work after your site is live.  Please be sure you are aware of the pricing before you have us do any work.  We feel our prices are both fair and highly competetive.  All work done at customer's request will be billed according to this rate table unless prior arrangements are made and agreed to by both parties.

Pricing is based on pre-payment.

Managed Hosting Rate is due at beginning of calendar year for website.  Any other arrangement must be made and approved before the beginning of the calendar year.

Yearly Contract Price is payable three ways.

  • Monthly, payment of $350 is due on first of every calendar month.
  • Quarterly receives 5% discount and payment of $1330 is due on first day of each quarter of package year.
  • Yearly payment receives 10% discount and payment of $3780 is due on first day of package year.

CMS Websites we host must use Managed Hosting or Yearly Contract option.4  For more busy sites, particularly ones with an online shop or regularly changing copy and a newsletter, you can save quite a bit of money with our Contract Pricing package, which includes all the features of our Managed Hosting and much more. Both are detailed below.

2 Managed Hosting
Our Managed Hosting Plan  has a number of features which are all also included in any Contract Pricing Plans. 

  • Discounted pricing on all our services. (See Table above)
  • Managed hosting includes all technical support for your website and the servers it is hosted on. 
  • It includes one domain name (eg: www.yourbiz.com) which we will register and keep active for as long as you host with us. 3
  • We will maintain backups of your site and any databases your site uses, and keep those backups in a location separate from the website server.
  • We will maintain the email accounts and add or remove any email addresses you want to have (up to 30) with your domain name. 
  • We will install and maintain both SPAM filtering and anti-virus scanning on all your incoming emails. 
  • We will provide you with a web based interface for your email with multiiple features such as password change, calendar, address book and more. We will also provide detailed instructions for setting up your own email client (WindowsMail, Eudora, Thunderbird, etc.) to access and use your email account.
  • We will monitor your website and email server for up-time and resolve any problems with either server outage or email disruption as quickly as possible, (usually before the outage is even long enough to be noticed). 
  • We will keep a monthly log of uptime and provide you with copies of on request.
  • We will put a google site map in the back end of your site and update it whenever your site changes so that google will crawl and index your site properly. 
  • We will submit your site to Google, Bing, Yahoo and all other important search engines and site indexing services on a monthly basis. 
  • We will work with the keywords and descriptions in the back end of your site, reviewing them monthly so that your site is optimized for search, negating any need for you to worry about third party SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
3If you choose to leave our hosting anytime after paying for the first year, the domain name will become your property and we will cooperate with your new registrar or host in moving the domain registration. Initiation of moving domains we no longer host to new registrars by owners of those domains must occur within 30 days of termination of our services or domain ownership will revert to Captain's Designs and disposition will be our option.

4 If you have a CMS (dynamic) web site and choose not to opt for our Managed Hosting Plan then once we build your site, we can not take any responsibility for any of the above.  We will provide you with a full copy of all files and databases for your site on DVD and will assist you in the original installation of the site on a server of your choice, but once it is up live if we are not hosting your site, we will no longer access that server to make any changes or additions to the site.

If you choose not to opt for our Managed Hosting Plan we do offer a basic hosting plan for static html sites.  If you are hosting with a shared domain name (eg: www.yourbiz.captainspages.com) or already have your own domain name and just point the DNS to our servers, the cost is $100 per year.  If you want your own domain name and we register and keep the domain active (eg: www.yourbiz.com) the cost is $125.00 per year.  This cost includes 5 email addresses and server support. (By "server support" we mean that any problems with the servers hosting your sites will be taken care of by us in a timely manner and your site will not suffer any extended downtime.  It also means that if there IS any sort of server failure we will install a backup of your website on a new server right away.)

We also reserve the right to not grant access to the back end of our servers to anyone at any time.  If you are hosting a static html site with us, we will provide you with FTP access to your site.  If you are hosting a CMS site with us, you will have access to the back-end of the site itself by way of the Administration area of the site.  This access is all you need to work on the site and we will not provide any further access to our servers than this, nor will we be responsible for any site damage or disruption caused by human error when anyone but Captain's Designs accesses your site.

For minimal extra charges we will also manage a Google Advertising account which has the potential to increase your search engine hits by a huge margin for a small amount of advertising budget. We can also place ads of Facebook and manage and run campaigns using social networking sites to your advantage.
